Wildwood Buggy Bash 2008 - ideas?

August 26th, 2008 by Brian

It’s about time! It’s time to rule the beach again!

Ok. First, I checked tide info and September 27th (Saturday) appears to be the most suitable day, low tide @ 12:43 pm. Next possible date is October 11th (Saturday), low tide @ 11:22 am.

Second, what would you guys like to receive this year? T-shirts again? I thought about it but it’s hard to estimate how many people will show up and what sizes we need to prepare. Maybe we should do “T-shirts for members only” but again, it would be nice to greet non-members with something else as well. Any thoughts?

Let’s hear what you guys have to say.

September 27th seems a better choice than October 11th to me.

I liked the T-shirts, still wear it on a regular basis, the funny thing yesterday night I had a friend over for BBQ and guess what he was wearing?? the T-shirt!!, not sure if anybody remembers him, his name is Bart and came out on our club day last year.

on the other end it would be great if we can welcome non members as well with a small something, I just don’t know what yet. i am sure we’ll come up with something, I’ll keep thinking..

Quote from Don: The beach is within reach!!!

Just some thoughts… I will check my work schedule to see what Sept 27th looks like.. September for the NWPD is busy on weekends, we have some type of convention just about every weekend,,but even then I may be working at night or there may be nothing that weekend so I will check,,, dont change anything for me just yet. What about hats for members? Baseball type with some type of embroidery maybe a Buggy with NJ Buggy Club on it.. There is a good place here in Wildwood that I deal with and the hats are not expensive,,,a nice could cost about $10.00 or so. What do you guys think?

And as far as quotes go: here is a new one,

“If the wind isn’t blowing, it sucks!”

You gotta make it to the event, LBJ. We elected you as a chief of the club secretly and what’s the point of the event without a chief? hehe :)

Ye, I was thinking about hats as well. Maybe we should do T-shirts for members and hats for non-members. Do you think they will be too jealous on your T-shirts? I felt lucky last year because it was just right amount of T-shirts for members & guests and pretty much everybody was happy with their size. Maybe we should still do T-shirts (memebers + some) and advertise as “free T-shirts, first come first served” Also, I think T-shirt will be more memorable since we still wear them and think about the event. Just a thought…

If we do T-shirt this year, I was thinking about this quote on the back of it:

“Buggying is not a hobby. It’s a lifestyle!”

Maybe we should gather everybody’s quote and put them on the T-shirts??? (ah, I like this idea)

    hey brian
i like the saying for the shirts.
BUT!!! i still like the first one i had put on our shirts way back when.” nice stunt kite. but can you buggy with it.”

  5. Jesse said:

who is buggymangp ?? I saw you just registered as a new user, welcome!!

  6. Brian said:

He is Glenn, one of founders of NJ Buggy Club.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of putting everyone’s quote in the back of T-shirt. So far,

Brian: Buggying is not a hobby. It’s a lifestyle
Jen: I lost my boyfriend to buggying…
Don: The beach is within reach!
Joe: If wind isn’t blowing, it sucks!
Glenn: nice stunt kite!!! can you buggy with it???
Ryan: I really wish I could afford this shirt…
Jesse: I just don’t have any quotes from myself…. :(
Luke: May the Wind be with you

Anybody like this idea or just me?

    hey jesse
yes. i was buggying (13yrs now) way before we had a nj buggy club. as more people got hooked. we started the cenral new jersey buggy club. most of the guys went on to other things. boat sailing, motorcycle riding etc. me too. buggying has taken a back seat for me. i just finished building a 1930 chevy and i just started on a 1948 chevy. but i still go the NABX and DBBB every year. i find myself still looking at flags and trees. i need to feel the handles pulling out of hands and tires rolling again. i got way to many hobbies and not enough time for all of them. i`m very glad brian got on as pres. for the club and keeping it alive. its what the club needed. new young blood.

  12. Jesse said:

Glenn, I just found a picture from your car: click here

This car is awesome!!… but not a reason to not come out and buggy :)

  13. Jesse said:

BTW, Brian, I liked the quotes idea, I just don’t have any quotes from my self…. :(

  14. Brian said:

see your quote(?) above :) We still have time :)

Checkin’ schedules…hope I can make it the 27th!

  17. Brian said:

Looks like we are getting T-shirts again :)

We are a small group and I don’t want to leave anybody out. So, the date is pending. Please get back to us soon though so I can send invitation emails to my friends with confirmed date.

So far, Glenn is pending. Unless I hear otherwise, I assume everybody else can make it.

    hey brian
don`t count me in just yet. i`ll get back to you.
sept 27th might be the weekend i trailer my car to PA to get it judged on a national level with GM. big money and prizes to be had if i do good with judging. this is the 100 yrs of chevy history. 500 acres of chevies will be there.

  19. barnes said:

I should make it, I’ll be around. And plus 1 or 2 of my friends whom I’ll drag down with me.

Buggyman, where is this Chevy meet up in PA? I know that one of my local flying spots here in PA is always flooded with car events because of the paved runway. (in fact, I was told to stop flying the kite because it was “distracting the drivers.”) Either way, good luck!

  20. buggymangp said:

    hey barnes
its in hershey PA. one of the biggest swap meets and car shows on the north east.
i took my car to some local shows and guys told me i have a good shot at winning something.
i hate to trailer it out there. but the guys talked me into it. even one of the guys is letting me use his trailer to haul it.

  23. Luke said:

  24. LBJ said:

I’m in,,,,no work that weekend…..Brian my shirt size would be a large. thanks…….

  25. Jesse said:

@ Glenn, if you are not coming, may the judges be with you, if you are coming, may the winds be with us

@ Brian, do you have a good address for the T-shirt printing, other wise I have a colleague here at work that has a side biz and prints T-shirts, not sure what you pay though, you can just email me about that if you want me to check with him

  26. Brian said:

Thanks Jesse, There is a shop nearby U of D that does T-shirts, hats and stuff. That’s where I went last year and I was happy with their service. I can talk to photo shop designer to correct/adjust graphics on the spot so I think I am going to use them this year again. But good to know we have a back up just in case.

  27. Brian said:

Anybody wants to request more T-shirt for your significant others who is definitely coming to the event?

  28. Jesse said:

I was happy with the last year’s T-Shirt too ;)

Esther isn’t sure yet if she will come, when is the cut of to let you know if we need an extra T-Shirt or not.

@ All, I added a little countdown in the right top corner just to keep the excitement going, if anybody has trouble viewing it, or it doesn’t show right, let me know so I can remove it.

  29. Brian said:

No worries, I will order some extra T-shirts.

    Clock looks good. Nice work!

  30. Jesse said:

    Sweet….

    The Countdown has started!!!!!!!!!!

    Talk to everybody later!!!

  31. Jesse said:

BTW if any body is interested to donate a few bucks (min $5) for a friend of mine who does the 60 mile breast cancer walk click here. Then on the page donate to Adam.
