March 25th, Soul Session

March 26th 2008 | Posted by Brian

I started my day @ 4 am yesterday at work and got off early. As soon as I got home, I checked weather @ Wildwood beach and saw SE wind. Right there, I packed my buggy and headed to the beach.

When I arrived, wind was coming from SSE, which made me think that ride along the beach wasn’t possible but prepared my buggy for maybe for short run.

My choice of kite was Yakuza 3.5M. Frankly, I haven’t flown that kite that much as I flew FS depower kites most of time. Obviously, I under-estimated its potential. Its upwind capability was incredible. Once I tuned in, I didn’t have a problem of riding along the beach.

Low tide was @ 4:30 pm and I got there around 2 pm, which gave me enough time and room for buggy ride. I only saw hand full of people on the beach so practically beach was all mine.

Do you guys know there is a fence at the end of south beach? I rode from there to LB Joe’s spot and came back. Plus many round trips in between. It was amazing run. My only complain is that my hands were freezing. Air temp was fine but I guess wind coming from cold ocean makes wind chill.

It was fun but a lonely ride. There is nothing like riding with NJ Buggy Club members…

Sorry to have missed that one, I wish I could have been there, but not this time…. We have to hurry to get most out of the buggy days before tourist season starts and the life guards are back on the beach!!!
