I know some are already talking about buggy meeting this weekend and I understand it’s all about wind but who’s interested in snowkiting?
My source said Lake’s frozen, which is my favorite snowkiting place.? Besides, it’s full moon this weekend and that means “moonlight snowkiting!!!”
So, who’s up for what?

“THIS JUST IN” All snow accross the country will be melting on Friday evening. Its a crazy phanomanon called “Snowkitismeltyitis” Everyone is encouraged to head to the beach in Wildwood NJ.
lol, you Lucky Bastard!
I’ll have to discuss this with the wife, sister, and mom. Unfortunately, my mom is not very fond of cold weather (she sat in the car all day saturday reading her book while we buggyied cause it was too cold for her). Having said that, I’d absolutely love to head up north this weekend and go snowkiting. I’ll have to discuss it with them tonight when I get home from work. I have a few vacation days to burn, so its possible that we could do a 4-day weekend in either location, its just a matter of which. And where the wind is blowing…
I’ll check with the family and see what they will want to do. Either way, we will be flying somewhere.
UPDATE: All wind will be directed toward the East coast of New Jersey this weekend……More updates to follow as needed or untill everyone says they are coming to wildwood….
Heh, funny story about that…
Spoke with my mom and sister. The cold last weekend was enough for them. Trying to talk them into a full weekend at Wildwood. They might not even go for that. No way I can go north for the snow. Really wish I could, that will just have to wait for another weekend (17 – 18th??).
I’m taking Thursday & Friday off from work (unless there is a work conflict), so… if winds prevail, we will be there both days. Forecast looks good now.. Lets hope it gets better!
Might need to borrow your buggy while we are down there Joe, cause I think my sister will be actually riding this time.
I’m up for Friday in Wildwood, low tide around noon and winds WNW at 16. Oh Ya !
Could do Saturday and Sunday if weather is OK.
I have nothing really planned at work for Friday so I could most likely take off if people are coming down…….the weekend also looks good for me so far……..
I might be able to make it on friday. As long as I am not taken down christmas lights. I didn’t get to ride this past weekend hope it works out for me this weekend. It was very nice meeting everyone the I did. Can’t wait to meet the rest of the gang.
I should be able to do Sat and Sun, or at least one of the two….
Snowkiting sounds attractive to me, but too far for now..
Winds are looking crazy for thursday… I’d love to hit it, but not sure I have a kite small enough to maintain sanity levels. Might try it with my new 3m Beamer, but that might be overpowered… Hard to say.
Still debating on whether we are leaving wednesday night after work, or thursday morning. Either way, we will def be there Friday, and quite possibly saturday as well…
I’m off on Friday so if the conditions look good I’ll be in WW. Winds WNW at 16 with gusts in the 30′s? Ack. Sounds like I’ll get a chance to try out the new 2m. Woohoo!
Brian, it almost sounds like if you want to hang out with friends you’ll need to come to WW or is anyone else up for snowkiting with you??
So far Ryan and snobdr are in for snowkiting but we don’t know for sure until Friday. I still might end up at Wildwood this weekend.
Tough choice…
All the cool kids are going to Wildwood. Come on,,, you know you want to come down here………………free pretzels for everyone……………. Giant Sailkarts, popcorn,,,,,,,candy apples……….well free pretzels anyway.
LBJ, if besides pretzels you can arrange for some extra wind that would be great…
@ Brian, what are you talking about (tough choice) ?? your roots are in Wildwood period.
I hate to say this, but if my mom and sister werent here, I’d be on my way to NY with Brian. No thinking about it involved. The snowkiting is just way too much fun. I enjoy the hell out of the buggy on the beach, but snowkiting is really something else.
That said. I’ll be on the beach this weekend, and loving it.
As it looks right now, my son and I will be there. I’ll be bringing the video gear and will be looking for another rider to hitch up the bugs together for some video.
Brian,
Wildwood will be where its at this weekend and you know you don’t want to miss out… nudge nudge, *cough* bring the drop tube so I can get the suspension going *cough* PLUS! Action video!! More than likely I will be filming more than buggy time but we’ll see.
Soo….
Looking at wind conditions for tomorrow (thursday, 08 January) the winds are supposed to be between 25-30 mph, with occasional gusts up to 40mph. I dont own any kites small enough to fly in those kinds of conditions. I’m not even sure a 1.4m beamer would be manageable in that kind of wind. Unless someone is going to be down there with a Blokart I cannot imagine anyone trying to fly anything in those conditions…
Change of plans, will probably drive out Thursday afternoon/night, and I’ll be on the beach Friday. Unless that forecast changes between now and when I get off work…
Is anyone gonna be down there for those kinds of winds?
I dont think I will be down there… I am considering taking off Friday and going down and I will be here for Saturday and Sunday with whomever is going to be here. So if anyone is going to be down there Friday,,,, let us know…
Yeah. Friday is definitely a go for me and mine, but Thursday is what I was wondering about. Looks a little crazy to me. Unless those wind predictions change (ie: DROP), we will not be there. Will probably drive out thursday night and we’ll be there Friday – Saturday (possibly Sunday).
I stick to Saturday and Sunday, or possibly only Sunday if the weather doesn’t cooperate for Saturday.
Don mentioned something about Friday not sure though..
I’m still good for Friday and now I’m thinking about Monday as well; tides are still good by then. I work Sat & Sun, no joy.
It’s really heart breaking to let down my Wildwood fans so I’ve decided to give up snowkiting for buggying this weekend. I just want to assure you that it has nothing to do with lack of wind but has everything to do with my love toward buggy family.
See ya.
WOW!!,
Brian, when will you be there??
I was planning for just Sunday as I cannot do Friday, but now if you are going to be there on Saturday, I’d be willing to take the risk of riding in the rain (or not being able to ride because of the rain).
Weather forecast shows snow then rain afternoon on Saturday. Without shelter, it would be tough to stay out in rain when it’s below 40F.
I was thinking about snowboarding on Saturday and buggying on Sunday.
Still looking to ride up there, for us it?s just a way for us to take a trip.
Don,
will you be there? I was the one that left you a message this morning about making an order. I just need a few things if you’re coming this way. Thanks.
Thanks Brian, I will see you on Sunday, I still want to go on Saturday as well, but the predictions aren’t very promising, and as you mention, staying in the rain (or in the hotel room for that same matter) doesn’t sound too exciting
@ Todd, I was in contact with Don, he was talking about Friday and Sunday but I am sure he’ll get back to you as soon as he sees your message..
See you guys this week end./
Don’t it just piss you off when you watch the wind perdictions for Friday go from NW 18 on Monday to W 12 today.
At this rate it maybe S at 5 by tomorrow.
Sunday’s still has wind but now there talking about snow showers.
Having said all that I will be in Wildwood by 10:30 Friday.
With west winds Pier Beach is my guess for best conditions.
What’s our “Local Dude” have to say about that.
I dont know Don,,,, what do you think? Which spot do you think would be better for the west winds? I guess we could start out at the pier and if its no good we could switch to North Beach… Heck we could always ride the West winds down to North Beach,,, that could be an option…..with one of us driving down there with the others gear…….its posible… remember “overcome and Adapt” we could always come back for the vehicles. Play it by ear I guess… I will meet you at the pier by around 10:30am also…. unless conditions dictate otherwise in between now and then.
I see SE wind on Saturday afternoon but rain…
I’m at a condo right next to the pier. I’ll be down there before 1030… waiting for you guys..
Mike, Don, Joe:
It was great seeing you guys and flying with you again. In all, I clocked a little over 25 miles with a max speed of 29.5 mph. Good times. Looking forward to seeing some video from Saturday. Cheers, j
