Buggy Spots, News from Kiterplace

Ivanpah – Don

March 29th 2009 | Posted by Don

Hey guys,
Not much to report here.
The Landsailers packed up and moved out yesterday and the North California BloKart Club moved in.
There are a couple Buggers here, NABX doesn’t start till Tuesday.
Most of the Buggyers that come early, maybe a dozen or so, go to the prevent at Lake Superior and show up here Tuesday.
Superior is a remote Lake Bed about 40 miles North of Barsto CA. It is a beautiful quiet place with unbeliable stars.
Weather wise, Thursday winds were 30, gusts over 45, Friday 13 in the afternoon, got some nice BloKart rides in, Saturday there wasn’t enough wind to do anything but enjoy the nice temps (78) and sunshine.
Today we are back to 20 plus with gusts over 40, went out on Ivanpah and watched two high speed BloKart races.
Looking forward to Monday with wind around 13 perdicted for most of the day, temps cooling a bit to 65.
Looks like nice winds the rest of the week, fingers crossed.

Sounds really good. Hey Don,, what are the average speeds you are hitting with the blokart? I have been telling these guys they need to get one,,, they are great on the messed up wind days…. like today,,, fast wind SSE in Wildwood and I hit 35.4mph. Have you taken any falls yet since you have been there?

Oh, man. Not far now.
Lyndsie starts the drive back from Florida tomorrow morning. She’ll be back on Tuesday with just enough time to wash some clothes and repack…then we head out very early on Wed morning.

Can’t wait to get out there and see everybody again! AoxomoxoA

Ye, we definitely should join NABX next year. Blokart on dry lake is THE bomb!

When I was at NABX one year, one family took their blokarts out and were cruising around the desert. I thought it was so cool that blokart was their weekend family activity. Jason captured them in camera:

LBJ,
Last Saturday I did 38+ in around 25 mph wind.
Friday I did 32 in say 20 mph breeze.
No falls, with the nonforgining surface on the Lake Bed I’m very conservitive. And with a fresh new Kart I’d like to get a couple photos before I beat it up too bad.
As great as it is on Ivanpah for wind sports I still prefer a warm day at Wildwood with 15 to 20 right off the Ocean.
It’s just they don’t happen often enough.
