Hey,, I think its something we should “sound off” on to see what everyone thinks. I think the overall idea is good. Its just how involved do we want to get. My opinion is that the Buggy Bash should be just that, Our Buggy Bash. What I mean by that is not get ourselves bogged down with the teaching or having this be an event for a charity but I like the idea of being able to raise money for a charity while we are there. So maybe we could contact the people that run the “Bobby Wunder” foundation and see if they would want to come and maybe set up an area where they could raffle things off or something like that… maybe we could pitch in and together donate a small kite or something that could be raffled off along with everyone pitching in and demo our equipment and have whoever wanted too, try out a small kite or blokart etc. So it doesn’t have to be complicated but just go with the flow type deal. And Justin, I think it would be really cool if you could get some of your sound equipment down there so we could have some tunes! Just my thoughts… what do the rest of you think?

While I think it’s a great idea, I don’t think we are big enough to host public event like that. We only have a president/weather man (LBJ) and that’s pretty much it.

Besides, there are a lot more to think about when it comes to safety if we decide to provide demo to public.

Why don’t we start with friends and family before we move to public next year? Personally, I am inviting my non-kite friends to buggy bash and give them opportunity to fly my kites. They will finally understand what I keep trying to tell them:

“my kite is not square and yes, it has more than one line!”

so let me get this right???
the dates are the weekend of may 9th. right??
is everybody going to that camping site??
i plan on coming early. maybe thur or wed of that weekend. but i would like to stay in the apollo. is anybody else going to stay there. i hate to be the only one. my 2 cents. i think we should forgo non kting people and just have a buggy bash with friends and family. the last think i want to do when i get down there is teach somebody to fly a kite. i want to spend as much time in the buggy as i can.

Glenn,

Jen, Jake and I are camping. Don’t know what others are planning. Even if you stay at Apollo, stop by at camping site and have dinner with us on Saturday night. We will be BBQ-ing big-o-steaks.

On April 15th, I am going to make Buggy Bash official in PKF and other forums with camping info.

Hey Glen,

yes,, its May 8th 9th and 10th, that being Friday, Sat, Sun. of course anyone can come whenever they want. I think most who have said they would come so far have mentioned the camp ground. You might want to check with Don,,, he may come down earlier and I am not sure where he is going to stay. Maybe you can spend a few nights at the hotel and then join us at the camp ground Friday and or Saturday nights.

While I think trying to get the public involved, I think it could lead us into a dangerous position that we will want to be very careful about. By that I am refering to the legal ramifications of putting people who have never tried this onto a kite.

We will need to have some kind of release forms available that have been approved by someone who knows how to write this sort of thing. That way, if something does go wrong, and someone does get hurt, we will not be losing our livelihood because of it.

As long as that base is covered, I do not mind giving people lessons.

Oh.. lots of comments since i started writing mine. lol.

Yeah, I’ll try to come down Thursday night, and stay until Sunday. This time around, lets just camp, have good food with good friends and race up and down that beach. :)

We still need a few more people to weigh in on the thougts. There are still a number of people we haven’t heard from yet…. So far it looks as if we will just do what we normally do this time anyway.. Maybe this time will give us an idea of how much interest we generate with our activity on the beach during these days. We always have people coming up and asking questions and checking stuff out so… I think this feedback is good…. lets have some more….

I will be there 8-9 and 10 as it looks now, as far as teaching people or letting people use stuff, I am OK as I love to share my love for my kites and buggy (not to mention sharing love about my blokart) but I agree that we should not get in trouble if someone injures himself…

Isn’t a release form that says ” by trying out any of the sports on the ebach today I waive any rights of suing any ne if something would happen??” I don’t know……

I have a few friends or colleagues that will probably come down, I figured letting someone in a blokart can’t heart, flying a kite, getting on a landoard or in a buggy could be different….
