1st Downwinder, Successful!

April 6th 2009 | Posted by Brian

For those of you, who missed Sunday session…… poor thing :) Here is how our 1st downwinder went.

We (me, LBJ, ragden, and Todd & Corey) started at South fence early Sunday morning. Later, Duloid joined us at fishing pier. Wind started NW, 15mph + and very gusty. By the time we passed fishing pier, it shifted to WNW, making it harder to go back South direction.

We made all the way to North beach and wide open all flat surface was greeting us. It was the best beach condition I’ve ever seen in North beach. No water in the middle, no pot holes but all flat surface all the way to water.

By the time we got to North beach, wind was straight West, still 15mph but much steadier than before, making it best condition for North beach. Ankur (new member) joined us at North beach.

As usual, we had a nice lunch picnic between sessions. We rode until we ran out of room due to tide.

I dare to say that we utilized wind and beach 100% that day, no waste! It’s amazing that we were able to cover the whole Wildwood beach that day. Downwinder rocks!

A couple of notes:

1. Petra walked from fishing pier to North beach.?? WOW

2. Jen made a surprised visit to North beach

3. This is not very important but ragden set a club speed record, 41.5mph but who cares.

This was an amazing amount of fun. Hope to do it again sometime soon. :)

commenter

Does that mean Ragden took home the buggyman award?

commenter

And I might add that this was Corey’s first time riding the beaches of Wildwood and is quite the upcoming buggy guru. What a great weekend! This was our first downwinder we need to do more of this before we loose the beach.

Nice to have met you Duloid, Petra, Ankur

commenter

Sounds like I should have stayed or come back..

Petra should have used LBJ’s Blokart or hop on the rear axle of one of the buggies although that can be pretty scary ;)

commenter

Hey Guys-
It was great meeting you all and I had a great time at Wildwood. Thanks LBJ for letting me use the 3m and Brian for all your help. I???m looking forward to seeing all the pictures and videos! :-)

The only downside- DELAWARE TOLL SUCKS! I spent more on toll than on gas. I wish there was a place like wildwood closer to home!

Duloid- how do I find u on facebook?

look forward to see you guys again soon!

commenter

Ankur, I drive through Laurel MD on my way to Wildwood. Maybe next time we can carpool it. Might save you some of the pain from those tolls… :)

commenter

Oh man, I missed out. :(

Schools been busy, not to mention I’m broke…but hopefully I can make it out this weekend. Spring break time, I’m free Wednsday (assuming the wisdom teeth pulling goes well…)
through til next Tuesday so let me know!

commenter

Yeah you missed a good one bud. Bummer. About this weekend… the real question is the tides… And I cannot pull that link up from work. It just never quite works for me. Something about our firewalls blocking that silly stuff… :(

commenter

great day.. lot of fun ..

nice to meeting you Todd & Corey, Ankur.

to ankur: you can find me – duloid at gmail dot com

hopefully we will get another nice day with SE wind and it gonna be even better…

Ok, the video is complete………it is pretty darn good if I dont say so myself…just have to download to Youtube and Vimeo. Youtube being the dirtbags that they are will most likely mess with my audio, music, which is the best part but vimeo will most likely not mess with it…. so I will have it up soon.

commenter

Sweet! Cant wait to see it. I have some pictures and a couple video clips Sunnie took. I’ll see if I can get them posted tonight.

commenter

Update. Youtube of course blocked my audio as I suspected. So I had to swapp out for music they had,,, its not bad but I dont like it but what can I do….So, Vimeo is downloading right now and should be ready any minute.. So if you want to mellow out to the video watch it on youtube and the rocking one is on Vimeo, I will post a link in a few minutes.

commenter

YaY! I knew it was video day! LBJ, I gave up on Youtube and will only use Vimeo from now on. Now I just need new video gear to get filming again.

commenter

Ok,, youtube screwed up and didnt swapp out my music so watch it while you can

commenter

cool! Thanks for posting. If anybody else took any pics/videos, please send links..

commenter

cool.
whos the kitebroader who almost went for a swin. LOL

commenter

that will be me. What sucks a little is that that’s pretty much the only coverage of me in the video :-( I had some pretty good runs that don’t feature in this video.

LBJ, do you have any other clips of me? I’d love to put one on my facebook profile :-)

commenter

Very nice!

commenter

You guys are watching the one on Vimeo and not youtube, right? Vimeo has my music and its much better.

commenter

Digging the drum beats in the beginning matching the video shake then Corey comes zooming into the frame.. great video!

commenter

great job Joe… slow motion effects .. very nice ..but next time have to jump higher then one foot. :)

commenter

I can only do so much with what I have to work with…….Its hard making you guys look good……ha ha ha ha

commenter

I can’t find me in the movie :( I thought you captured me during downwinder, including 10 feet jump and double front roll.

commenter

You know now that you mention it…..Your right your not in it. I did get that “Forward Tumble and Fall” trick you did,,,so will make another video just featuring that… I do have alot of other video from that day so I will make another…….

commenter

Heh. I dont think you are in either of the videos my wife got either. She did make one of you guys making lunch, and you are in that one… :)

commenter

Great tracks. That drum roll intro was sopposta mimmic the sound of NHRA top fuel dragster. So id say its very fitting.

commenter

For all you guys who felt left out!

commenter

that last link might be wrong… I will post the new video later….if it does come up its the video titled NJ Buggy Club April 5th 2009 or something like that…….

commenter

Joe, the vimeo link with the numbers 4045415 worked just fine for me last night. Are you posting a new video with new footage, or making a change to the old? Just curious what is going on…

commenter

Its a new video,,, made today

commenter

Here is the new link… this should work.

http://www.vimeo.com/4061629

commenter

Ok Apparently everytime I post a “link” it has to be approved by the Jess man…..so just go to my vimeo site and the new video is on there…..

commenter

I like it….. because I am in it :)

commenter

I dont like it…… cuz hes in it.

commenter

he = LBJ

commenter

Why da ya gotta hate?

commenter

Remember I can just “Edit Out” whomever I want too…..

commenter

snobdr is out of LBJ’s future movies. HA!

commenter

Not bad, not bad at all. :)
Though I was only in it for split seconds as I flew past… no worries.. :)

commenter

Thats the most I have ever seen me ride…

Brian, I would soooo add the sound bite to that Fred Flintstone dismount :)

Great job LBJ!

commenter

commenter

He was classified in school as special.

commenter
